{"id":689,"date":"2014-02-20T18:15:46","date_gmt":"2014-02-20T18:15:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/18.191.22.100\/?p=689"},"modified":"2014-02-20T18:15:46","modified_gmt":"2014-02-20T18:15:46","slug":"moroccan-chamin-sephardic-cholent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fargate.dev.torahmates.org\/jewish-resources\/moroccan-chamin-sephardic-cholent\/","title":{"rendered":"Moroccan Chamin (Sephardic Cholent)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Enjoy the flavors of the Mediterranean part of the world with this authentic Moroccan recipe from Mrs. Eva Tchiprout of Toronto. <\/p>\n<p>Ingredients: <\/p>\n<p>Mini redskin potatoes, 4-6 per person, peeled<br \/>\nCheek meat or cholent meat with bones, such as flanken<br \/>\n1 gala bone<br \/>\n2 marrow bones (optional)<br \/>\nEggs (1 per person)<br \/>\nDry chick peas or white navy beans<br \/>\n1 cup rice (basmati or long grain)<br \/>\n1\/2 cup dates (pitted)<br \/>\n3 Tbsp. paprika<br \/>\n3 Tbsp. turmeric<br \/>\n1 Tbsp. cumin<br \/>\nsalt<br \/>\nblack pepper<br \/>\n1\/2 cup oil + 1\/4 cup<br \/>\ncheesecloth <\/p>\n<p>Cover the bottom of a crock pot with a single layer of chick peas. Place the bones on one side of the pot. Mash the dates in your hand, forming into a ball, and place behind the bones. Place the meat near the bones. Add the potatoes and eggs to the pot. <\/p>\n<p>Rinse the rice well and put in cheesecloth with 1\/4 cup oil, salt and pepper. Tie the cheesecloth somewhat loosely to allow the rice to expand as it cooks. Put the full cheesecloth in the crock pot in a way that it is not sitting completely at the bottom. <\/p>\n<p>Season the content of the crock pot with the spices. Salt liberally and add pepper to taste. Pour oil over everything.
