Once upon a time, the talented women who work at Oorah<\/a> put together a fabulous cookbook of tried and true, homestyle recipes and called it Oorah’s<\/a> Shmorg<\/a>. (Get it?) This recipe is the delicious contribution of Mrs. Chana Chava Horowitz, whose formidable baking skills are renowned at Oorah (especially since she enjoys sharing her culinary masterpieces as much as she enjoys whipping them up!) She claims they’re easier to make than it sounds and the resulting scrumptious beauties are certainly well worth the effort!<\/p>\n

Dough:<\/p>\n

1 tsp. sugar
\n1 package dry yeast
\n1\/2 cup warm water
\n1\/2 cup sugar
\n5-6 cups flour
\n1\/2 tsp. salt
\n2 eggs
\n3\/4 cup oil
\n1\/2 cup orange juice<\/p>\n

Dissolve sugar and yeast in water. Let sit. In a separate bowl, mix sugar, flour and salt and make a well. Add eggs, oil and orange juice to dry mixture. Mix in yeast mixture. Let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.<\/p>\n

Filling:<\/p>\n

2 Tbsp. cinnamon
\n1 cup sugar<\/p>\n

Syrup:<\/p>\n

1\/2 cup dark brown sugar
\n1\/2 cup light brown sugar
\n2 Tbsp. water
\n3 Tbsp. corn syrup<\/p>\n

Boil syrup ingredients and pour into 9×13 pan. Roll dough into a rectangle, smear with oil and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar mixture on top. Roll up and cut into slices 3\/4″ thick. Lay rolls on top of syrup. Bake at 350F for 35 minutes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
